{"id":469,"date":"2016-11-29T19:12:18","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T19:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/guardianpharmacy.net\/atlanta\/?p=469"},"modified":"2016-11-29T19:12:18","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T19:12:18","slug":"guardian-pharmacy-atlanta-attends-the-47th-annual-ascp-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guardianpharmacy.com\/georgia-atlanta\/2016\/11\/29\/guardian-pharmacy-atlanta-attends-the-47th-annual-ascp-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Guardian Pharmacy Atlanta Attends the 47th Annual ASCP Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists held its 47<sup>th<\/sup> Annual meeting November 4-6 in Dallas, Texas.\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme was \u201cEmpowering Seniors to Live Independently,\u201d and Guardian Pharmacy Atlanta was represented at this important meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em id=\"__mceDel\"><a href=\"https:\/\/annual.ascp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-471 aligncenter\" alt=\"ASCP\" src=\"http:\/\/guardianpharmacy.net\/atlanta\/files\/2016\/11\/ASCP.jpg\" width=\"310\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The landscape for long-term care is changing;\u00a0 Industry drivers are different.\u00a0 Consumers are demanding more say in their healthcare.\u00a0 Payers are seeking value over volume.\u00a0 The largest generation in our country\u2019s history, the Baby Boomers, are now our patients.\u00a0 With the election now over, there will be more changes coming in 2017.\u00a0 The one constant is that long-term care pharmacists have years of medication management experience, and are the experts in improving outcomes for our patients\u2019 lives, no matter where they reside.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this ASCP meeting was to educate long-term care pharmacists about all the changes in our industry, and to equip them with the tools to adapt our practices to meet these challenges.\u00a0 Sessions covered a variety of topics, including nation-wide long-term care initiatives such as antimicrobial stewardship, CMS pushing for more appropriate prescribing, and pharmacists seeking to obtain provider status.<\/p>\n<p>The coming year is going to be one of continual change, and long-term care pharmacists must work together to ensure we are recognized for the clinical services we deliver, and measure the positive differences that we make.<\/p>\n<p>The pharmacists at Guardian Pharmacy Atlanta are here to answer any questions you have, and are experts in this ever changing industry.
