U.S. Congressman Eric Burlison (R-MO) toured Guardian Pharmacy of the Heartland’s Springfield location on Wednesday, August 16. The congressman, a member of the House Education, Workforce, and Oversight and Accountability committees, received a firsthand look into the specialized services long-term care (LTC) pharmacies provide to vulnerable patients.
Congressman Burlison’s walk-through, led by Seth Connelly, Pharm.D., director of operations, and Michael Counts, Pharm.D., president, included the pharmacy’s customer care center and fulfillment operations. The visit also included a discussion of critical issues facing LTC pharmacies and policies championed by the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC).
“We appreciate Congressman Burlison taking the time to engage with our team,” said Counts. “This visit was an opportunity to showcase the unique role LTC pharmacies play in helping improve quality of life for individuals with the most complex care needs.”
