Guardian Pharmacy Services Acquires Van’s Institutional Pharmacy, Expanding Footprint in Tennessee and Kentucky
Guardian Pharmacy Services has expanded its presence in Tennessee and Kentucky through the acquisition of Van’s Institutional Pharmacy, a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy based in Martin, Tennessee. The addition grows Guardian’s Tennessee operations to five pharmacies in Memphis, Shelbyville, Murfreesboro, Knoxville, and Martin, strengthening its ability to meet increasing demand for LTC pharmacy services across the region.
Founded in 1974, Van’s Institutional Pharmacy serves residents in assisted living, skilled nursing, and behavioral health communities, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, across Tennessee and Kentucky. Co-Presidents Zach Delaney and Emily Haskins will lead day-to-day operations while former President Mike Swaim remains actively involved in the pharmacy as a senior advisor. The pharmacy’s existing leadership and staff will stay in place, and it will continue to operate as Van’s Institutional Pharmacy.
As with Guardian’s other acquisitions, Van’s Institutional Pharmacy will benefit from the company’s unique business model, which combines local pharmacy leadership and decision-making with centralized corporate support. This allows the local team to remain focused on customer service and the specialized needs of the communities and residents they serve, while Guardian’s Corporate Support Team assists with complex behind-the-scenes business functions, including data analytics, HR, IT, payor relations, national sales and more.
